According to custom, King George VI presented his colour to the King’s Company of the Grenadier Guards at Buckingham Palace, on May 4, 1937. The guards are marching along Buckingham Palace Road on their way to the Palace, as shown in this AP file photo. George VI became King unexpectedly following the abdication of his brother, King Edward VIII, in December 1936 and served until his death in 1952. The Coronation of King Charles III will take place on Saturday, May 6 at Westminster Abbey in London.
