Health Center: UT Medical Center cuts ribbon on Regional Health Center

The University of Tennessee Medical Center held a ribbon cutting ceremony for its newest Regional Health Center in Morristown.

This new facility offers specialty care, infusion and diagnostics services under one roof and the expertise of health care providers from the region’s academic medical center.

The new 51,000-square-foot facility will offer diagnostic services such as echo and vascular ultrasound, pulmonary function testing and X-ray. Other outpatient sub-specialty services include cardiology, colon and rectal surgeons, neurosurgeons, physical therapy, pulmonary and critical care, sleep center, urology, wound care and hyperbarics.

The center is the fourth regional health center the medical center has opened to better serve the region. The first was opened in Sevierville in 2014, the second in Lenoir City in 2017, and the last in Halls earlier this year.

Dr. Keith Gray, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, spoke about UT’s excitement for the facility and its mission to provide great care to the area.

“We are so proud of this facility and all the things it has to offer and the ways in which it will serve this community,” Gray said. “Our mission is to serve by offering great clinical care, by training the next generation of clinicians and providers and by doing meaningful research that is impactful for all the people we serve in the 21 counties of East Tennessee.”

“We do that by developing an integrative care model and over the past two decades we have worked really hard to provide a system of coordinated care that is high quality, safe, timely, effective, efficient and most importantly patient focused and covenant. That all really feeds into a vision that everyone we serve will have the opportunity to achieve their best health.”

Gray explained that UT believes that people shouldn’t have to travel far to receive excellent care and he is thrilled to bring care to Morristown.

“People shouldn’t have to come all the way to Knoxville to receive great outpatient care so we have devised a strategy of regional health centers to really push our care out to the people who need it most and specifically here in the Morristown area.”

“We are very proud of this state of the art facility that is going to provide meaningful primary care with our Healthstar partner and really outpatient specialty care and diagnostic services to everyone in this region.”

Following the ceremony attendees were allowed to tour the 51,000-square-foot facility and meet with physicians and staff and discuss the care offered there.

The facility is located at 6232 W. Andrew Johnson Pike, Talbott, TN and to schedule an appointment at the facility, call the medical center’s Healthcare Coordination line at 865-305-6970.
