National Day of Prayer set for Thursday

The National Day of Prayer will be observed in Hamblen County on Thursday, May 4.
The program will be held as the Rev. John Griggs Memorial National Day of Prayer, beginning at its traditional time of 12:15 p.m. at the Hamblen County Courthouse.
Bearing the theme, “Are We Desperate?” the observance will prelude with the National Anthem presented by the Morristown-Hamblen High School East ROTC Color Guard.
Dr. Dean Haun, pastor of First Baptist Church, will welcome those who attend.
A total of six prayers will be included in the program, beginning with Rev. Ryan Harrell, pastor of King’s Corner Church, who will lead the prayer: “Are We Desperate for the Lost, and their Salvation?”
At 12:20 p.m. Rev. Javier Gonzalez, pastor of Iglesia Bautista Gracia y Verdad Baptist Church, will lead the prayer “Are We Desperate for Confession and Repentence?”
At 12:25 p.m. Rev. Howard Shipley, pastor and community leader, will lead the prayer, “Are We Desperate for our National Community Leadership?”
Bobby Davis, community leader, will follow by leading, “Are We Desperate for our Community?”
At 12:30 p.m. Rev. Justin Graham, pastor of The Avenue church, will lead the prayer, “Are We Desperate for our Churches, their Leadership and Spiritual Unity?”
Dr. Larry Parrott, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, will offer the closing prayer.
At 12:40 p.m. the closing song will be performed by Michael Turner, Ministor of Music at Manley Baptist Church.
