Bluegrass music will fill the Downtown area as the Morristown Art & Bluegrass Festival is held on May 6.

The event is hosted by the Chamber Downtown Program and the city parks and recreation department, will be held on Main Street and at the Farmers Market area.

Art and craft vendors, live art demonstrations, and fun activities will fill the streets of Downtown Morristown.

There will be live performances from Fountain City Ramblers, the Lost Creek Band, the Dirty French Broads and the Hurd & Company Band.

The Fountain City Ramblers are an acoustic group that mixes up musical instruments and genres in a constantly evolving set list.

The band assures no two shows are the same, but promises the end result is always a fun ride for both the audience and the band.

The group covers everything from bluegrass to the Beatles to Johnny Cash to Led Zeppelin songs reimagined as an acoustic trio.

The group has been playing venues and private events throughout Knoxville and Maryville. They recently performed at the Annual Dogwood Trail Ribbon Cutting and at the Wild Laurel Golf Course.

Lost Creek Band formed in 1978, when cousins Ed Stiner and Rick Fielden and their lifelong friend Phil Clear were hired to perform at a concert.

Through the years, Lost Creek has performed on stage at various festivals and venues, with acts such as Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin, Sonny and Bobby Osborne and the Nashville Bluegrass Band.

The band has played at the Lincoln Theater in Marion, VA, twice for the filming of the PBS series, “Song of the Mountains”, where Lost Creek was featured with Bobby Osborne and the Rocky Top Express. Lost Creek Band has also performed aboard Royal Caribbean’s Brilliance of the Seas twice and in 2017 they performed in Palmer Rapids, Ontario, Canada.

Their music is mix of traditional and progressive bluegrass and their musical influences are the Knoxville Grass, Bluegrass Greats Bill Monroe and Jimmy Martin.

Although some members have changed over the years the three founding members have remained.

The group’s members include Stiner (guitar/ vocals), Fielden (mandolin/ vocals), Clear (percussion/ vocals), Rick Flynn (banjo, Dobro, guitar) and Tim Carpenter (bass/ vocals).

Lost Creek has won many awards including the Horizon Award for Bluegrass Gospel Album in 2009.

The Dirty French Broads was formed after two members, Kate Thomas and Scott Anders, met for the first time at a local open mic. After playing a few songs together and liking what they heard they decided to work together.

Soon after, the two met Jeannie McKenzie and James Condino and then in the fall of 2022 Joshua Steele joined the band to form the Dirty French Broads.

The band is from Ashville, NC. and is known for their Americana sound which they explain as bluegrass without the rigidity of traditional technique/procedure and a touch of country.

Hurd & Company is a bluegrass group from Rogersville and consisting of core members Matthew Hurd, David Mowell, David Roller, and Kris Rasnake.

The band is comfortable playing hard driving traditional Bluegrass, Americana and Folk influenced tunes.
