Terry Hobbs Bradfute
Terry Hobbs Bradfute, age 83, of Morristown, Tennessee, passed away on April 18 at Life Care Center of Morristown following an extended illness. She was the only child of the late William Wallace and Mildred Fokes Hobbs.
Born on May 23, 1939, in Jacksonville, Florida, Terry and her parents moved to Baltimore, Maryland, Miami, Florida, and North Augusta, South Carolina, before settling in Knoxville, Tennessee, after her senior year in high school. She attended Converse College, Tennessee Wesleyan University and the University of Tennessee.
Terry married J. Philip (Phil) Bradfute in 1963 and lived in Knoxville, Bristol and Spartanburg (South Carolina) before settling in Morristown in 1967. She and Phil joined First Baptist Church of Morristown in 1967, and Terry served as a Sunday School teacher, children’s choir director, Vacation Bible School teacher and member of the adult choir. She was also active in the Junior and Ladies’ Reading Circles. Terry, a.k.a. “Nana,” loved her family, cooking, homemaking, church, getting together with friends, and trips to Holden Beach, North Carolina, and Hilton Head, South Carolina.
In addition to her husband, Phil, Terry is survived by three daughters: Quinne Bryant (Keith), Janet Davenport and Lauren Fleemon (Jack). She also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Brandon Bryant (Morgan), Erin Bryant Cantley (Richard), Will Davenport, Ben Davenport, Taylor Davenport, Adam Cook and Griffin Cook, and two great-grandchildren: Everley Cantley and Brooks Cantley.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 on Friday, April 21, at Mayes Mortuary. A memorial service will follow at 4 pm, with Dr Dean Haun officiating. Pastor Danny Georges will officiate the graveside service, Tuesday at 3 pm, at Highlands Memorial Cemetery in Knoxville, where Terry will be buried next to her parents.
