Prepping for End of Course testing
Happy Sunday, Trojans! We will begin EOC (End of Course) testing this Thursday, Apr. 20; this will be a virtual day for all students who are not taking an English End of Course exam this semester.
There will be a Talent Show rehearsal on Wednesday, Apr. 19, after school. The Talent Show will take place on Friday, Apr. 21, during 3rd period; all contestants will have the chance to win cash prizes up to $100.
The Talent Show will be performed live in the auditorium twice; students will have the opportunity to purchase a $2 ticket for one of the shows depending on their lunch times. First and second lunch students will attend the second show; third and fourth lunch students will attend the first show. Tickets can be purchased from your third period teacher right before the show on Friday. Be sure to bring your money to witness our first in-person Talent Show since the pandemic!
Student Council applications will be available this week. Student Council is responsible for working with administration and faculty to plan and execute school events such as dress up days for Homecoming week, Pep-rallies, the Talent Show, and much more! The Student Council is responsible for promoting school spirit, and speaking on behalf of the student body here at Morristown-West. Applications are available in the Main Office or from Ms. Cobb. Both the paper portion of the application and the online portion are due by Wednesday, Apr. 26. Elections will take place in May. Council members will be elected by the student body at West. Please contact Ms. Cobb with any questions.
The 2023-2024 HOSA officer applications are now available for current Sophomores or Juniors who have been active in HOSA and are interested in becoming a HOSA officer. Applications are available in the HOSA Google Classroom or by contacting one of the HOSA advisors. Applications must be turned in by Friday, Apr. 21, 2023.
Executive Council will meet Monday, Apr. 24, during TNN in Ms. Cobb’s room. This will be the last Executive Council meeting of the school year.
The Morristown-West Prom will be Saturday, Apr. 29. Prom tickets are now available to be purchased on the school website mhhsw.hcboe.net. Tickets are $25 each for singles and $45 for couples. Please read all directions before purchasing tickets and remember that you must turn in a guest permission form to Ms. Long in the library prior to purchasing tickets if you are bringing a guest that is not a student. Please contact Ms. Long or Mrs. Collins with any questions.
Cinderella’s Closet is open, by appointment only. If you need formal wear, dresses, shoes, makeup free of charge, call 865-287-5118 to schedule an appointment.
West High is proud to announce that we will be having our very own Dance Team! Try-outs for the Morristown-West Dance Team will be this week, Apr. 17 through Apr. 21. Anyone interested should join the Google Classroom with code: d553qrp.
For sports this week, Trojan’s Baseball will be playing against Jeff County on Monday, Apr. 17, and Tuesday, Apr. 18. They will be playing against Northview Academy on Thursday, Apr. 20, and on Friday, Apr. 21, they will be playing Elizabethton. Softball will be playing against Morristown-East on Thursday, Apr. 20. Tennis will have a match against Morristown-East on Monday, Apr. 17 at Frank Lorino Park. On Thursday, Apr. 20, Tennis will also have a match against Sevier County. Tuesday, Apr. 18, Track and Field will have a meet in Dandridge, TN.
In honor of Mr. Brian Marcum, there will be a scholarship available for Seniors who are planning to major in education; applications are available in the counseling office and the deadline will be Apr. 21, 2023.
