A Sevier County man wanted for aggravated assault in a Friday incident was charged Saturday in Sevier County for allegedly stealing a truck from a Cocke County business.

Bryan Carl Hurst, 46, Sevierville, was charged Saturday with aggravated assault and theft over $1,000.

Around 9:43 p.m., Friday, deputies with the CCSO were called to the 2600 block of Butler Road for a possible assault.

A woman, identified as Melissa Jones, was lying on the side of the road barely conscious bleeding from the face and mouth.

When EMS arrived to transport the woman to the hospital, she passed out.

As Jones was barely able to speak, she told deputies that she was at a friend’s house and ended up leaving with Hurst.

Jones told deputies that Hurst allegedly threw her out of the green spray painted truck. During the interview, Jones said that she was choked and that she believed the truck to be stolen.

On Saturday, CCSO deputies were called to Gray’s Auto Repair where Clifton Gray reported that his 2010 Chevrolet Silverado crew cab had been stolen between Thursday and Saturday.

A 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 with old Sevier County Board of Education stickers on its sides was left at the shop.

Deputies were later called to Armory Road when a caller to 911 reported that they were behind the 2010 Chevrolet Silverado.

The caller spoke to a constable and he followed the truck to a house on Hurst Way in Sevierville.

Deputies from both Cocke and Sevier counties stopped the truck on Hurst Way where Hurst was sitting in the driver seat.

There was broken glass inside the truck’s driver seat and was confirmed to be stolen.

Hurst is being held at Cocke County Jail and was served the warrant for aggravated assault.
