Charles Lonzo Wilson passed away during the early morning hours of March 6, 2023, in Clayton, North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharla, and his parents Woodrow and Mabel Wilson. He is survived by son Darrell (April) Wilson and granddaughter Grace of Clayton, NC; daughter Jennifer (Jarrett Woodrow) Wilson of West Columbia, TX; brother Clyde Wilson of Jefferson City, TN; sister Jeanette (Bob) Huffaker of New Market, TN; sister Joyce Wilson of New Market, TN; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Charles was born October 4, 1938, in Jefferson City, TN. He grew up in New Market, TN with his siblings on his family’s farm where they raised cattle. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1956 and from East Tennessee State University in 1962 with a bachelor’s degree in Business.

He went to work for State Farm Insurance Company as a claims adjuster, and then as an insurance agent. Charles loved his work but also loved his clients, who he considered friends.

He married his wife Sharla in 1964, and they raised their family on their cattle farm in Talbott, TN. Charles enjoyed cattle farming, fishing, vegetable gardening, and cheering on the University of Tennessee Volunteers, but especially loved watching his granddaughter Grace grow up.
