Retired Teachers Donate to Food On Foot

F

Hamblen County Retired Teachers’ Association welcomed Carolyn Jarnagin and Dianne Addington of Food On Foot as guest speakers for their monthly meeting. At the end of the program the teachers presented a donation to help the organization continue their work fighting hunger.

The Food On Foot Foundation Inc was founded by Carolyn Jarnagin as a Christian-based nonprofit organization in April 2007. Food On Foot was launched to stop child hunger. They deliver approximately 5,000 food bags every month to Lakeway Area elementary schools for distribution. In addition to the school backpacks, they are open every Saturday to distribute food bags to the homeless and people in need in the community.

The teachers were impressed to hear that they do not pay any administrative salaries and receive no government support. Funding comes from donations. Everyone associated with Food On Foot volunteers his or her time.
