Ridin’ High welcomes new pony to stables

Fable, a beautiful 7-year old pinto Welsh cross, had a bright future as a show pony.
Now she has a bright future as a therapy pony in Ridin’ High’s Therapeutic Riding Program.
Fable was owned and in training for high-end horse shows by Maggie Jacobs of Pony Up Sport horses.
The pony has the looks, temperament, movement and training to be successful nationally.
But when Maggie and her mother, Lauren McDonell, learned that Ridin’ High needed a quality pony for its equine therapy program, they partnered with Janet Legg Gallman, a long-time supporter of Ridin’ High, to donate Fable.
“We were very excited to receive Fable as a donation through the combined efforts of Janet Legg Gallman and Pony Up Sport horses,” said Ridin’ High Director Linda Bird. “This is a high-quality pony who potentially had a brilliant show career ahead of her. Instead, Maggie and Lauren–along with a generous donation from Janet, one of Ridin’ High’s longtime supporters–chose to donate Fable to Ridin’ High to benefit our participants long term. While Fable is a quality pony, she is also very quiet and well-suited as a therapy pony. Along with that, the donors felt Fable would ‘love’ being a therapy pony and wanted for her to have a great quality of life. At Ridin’ High we follow best practices in terms of horse care, so are great advocates for our horses. Additionally, each of the horses has an unofficial ‘fan club’ of people who love that particular horse. Fable certainly has that.”
Nancy Bible, Ridin’ High’s Founder is also excited about the donation.
“We are incredibly grateful to Janet, Maggie and Lauren for making it possible for us to have Fable in the program,” Bible said. “Their combined generosity is impressive and the donation of Fable enables us to effectively provide equine assisted therapies to our younger participants. She is a sweet and kind pony who is used in mounted lessons as well as our Pony Partners Literacy Program. Without the support of people in the greater community, we would never be able to carry out our mission to serve those with disabilities through equine activities. We truly can’t say ‘thank you’ enough.”
Ridin’ High is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit who focuses on providing equine assisted activities and therapies to those with emotional, physical, and cognitive challenges.
