Cocke County Partnership offering business classes

The Cocke County Partnership Chamber of Commerce is offering several business classes this month. All three events are no-cost events.
“SBDC Business Startup 101” will held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Monday, March 20 at Cocke County Chamber, located at 115 Mulberry Street in Newport. This is a no cost event. A Tennessee Small Business Development Center specialist will discuss different forms of business organization, tax requirements, business licenses, and financing options. This class is for anyone who has questions about starting their own business. A TSBDC Knoxville Center Business Specialist will speak. The event is co-sponsored by the Cocke County Chamber.
The Chamber will also host “Contracting Opportunities for Women-Owned Small Businesses” from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday March 29. To help level the playing field for women business owners, the Federal Government has created the “Women-Owned Small Business Contracting” program. Projects in designated industries may be set aside for certified entities to bid. Participants will learn about eligibility criteria, types of projects set aside, the application process and more. Jacqueline Merritt, economic development specialist with the Small Business Administration is the guest speaker. The event is a no cost event.
“Accelerate Your Marketing Drive your business forward in 2023” will be offered at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 28. This class will be offered online, or you can register and attend the class in person at the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce.
