Home Show brings in crowds to Mall

It is a sure sign that spring is almost here.
The Annual Citizen Tribune Home Show drew crowds into College Square Mall on a sunny, but cool day.
One of the Lakeway Area’s newest businesses, Guaranteed Stores of Morristown, appeared at the show for the first time. Manager Michael Ormsbee discussed his company.
“We started as an appliance store with three other locations,” Ormsbee said. “Last year, we had a business opportunity to get into furniture a little bit. We explored the idea of furniture and appliances together.”
Guaranteed’s bread and butter, however, is the sale of refurbished appliances.
“We carry new, used, scratch and dent and refurbished appliances,” he said. “We cover our used appliances with a 90-day warranty.”
Ormsbee said that Guaranteed refurbishes almost any appliance.
“There are a couple of brands that we stay away from, really, because the parts are a little more expensive,” he said. “We try to refurbish stuff that is worth putting money into and is cheaper for the customer to have to fix in the long run.”
What can’t be refurbished is recycled. Guaranteed also sells appliances for wholesale prices.
Trilight Internet, who partners with Appalachian Electric Cooperative for Internet infrastructure and sales, has reached 9,000 homes in Sevier, Hamblen, Jefferson and Grainger counties.
Mercy Rowlett, customer service specialist for Trilight, talked about what her office offers.
“We are partnered with AEC and we serve AEC members with fiber internet, home telephone and streaming television,” she said. “We’re working with servicing current members. We are hoping to be done with all AEC members and being able to serve them by the end of the year.”
Trilight/AEC recently passed 9,000 customers and are hoping for 10,000 customers by the end of the year.
“We’re growing rapidly,” she said. “We’re well on our way.”
Trilight/AEC starts at 50 megabits per second for internet all the way to 10 gigabytes.
“We’re among the first in Tennessee to be able to offer 10 gigabytes,” Rowlett said. “We’re very excited about that. Our packages are very comparable with our competitors.”
On the stage at the Home Show, “Art with a Twist” painting was going on with Mike Everidge and others. Later Saturday, entertainment by the Morristown Theatre Guild, gospel music by Saved Thru Faith and an acoustic set from Gregg Campbell.
The show features booths throughout the mall representing various businesses and services, giving the community a chance to learn about goods and services available in the Lakeway Area.
Today’s final day will be held from noon to 6 p.m. at the College Square Mall. There will be several giveaway packages, including a $250 gift card from Lowe’s, a $650 three-burner grill from Home Depot, $400 cash, a $350 home improvement package from Ben Cantwell with Greater Impact Realty and a $3,500 Tempstar 9,000 BTU mini split unit from Renner Electric Heating and Cooling, Inc.
