Two Lakeway Area residents were killed Monday morning in a crash on Interstate 40 West near the Knox-Sevier County line, according to multiple reports.

Randall Ball, 58, of Jefferson City, and Tish Beck, 58, of Morristown died when a Chevy truck traveling eastbound crossed the median and struck their Chevy SUV in the westbound lanes before careening into a semi truck.

Officials are unclear as to why the driver of the Chevy truck crossed the median. The 48-year-old man remains hospitalized.

The crash happened about 7 a.m. Monday near the Midway Road exit of I-40.

Ball’s funeral arrangements are in the Obituaries section of today’s paper on Page A5. Beck’s arrangements had not been announced in Morristown by press time Wednesday.
