City Council honors cadet

The Morristown City Council recognized a member of the Air Force JROTC Program.
Cadet Second Lieutenant Colby England was honored with the receiving the AFJROTC Gold Valor Medal, given to only a few students each year nationwide.
England was recognized for his actions on 16 July 2021, when he responded to an accident as Youth Conservation Corps while assigned to the Cherokee National Forest.
A team member flipped a vehicle in the steep mountain terrain and England immediately jumped into action, notifying his supervisor.
He then saw the truck leaking fuel and hopped into action by using loose gravel and sand to cover up the leak, and making sure that the forest did not catch fire and the truck.
That wasn’t the end of England’s actions. Out of nowhere, a black bear came out of the woods. England sprang into action again, this time shouting, jumping and blowing an air horn to scare the bear away.
The bear stomped multiple times, displaying aggression, then left the area.
