Morristown East Head Football Coach Caleb Slover has resigned from his position, according to East Athletic Director Brad Hall.
Slover informed his team on Friday morning.
“I am extremely proud of our kids and the way they have worked, prepared and gotten better over the years,” Slover said. “We broke over 40 records during my time here, and I am proud of all they have done. I’ll always be pulling for these kids and hope they go on to do great things. I love them all.”
Slover coached East for four seasons, finishing with a record of 15-26. The ‘Canes made the playoffs twice during Slover’s tenure, in 2020 when the ‘Canes went 5-5 and in 2022 when the ‘Canes went 4-7.
During Slover’s time at Morristown East, the ‘Canes offense broke just about every record in the book. To name a few, former East QB Cole Henson broke the career passing record while running back Ethan Ledford broke the career rushing record this season. Former East wide receiver Micah Simpson broke the career touchdown reception mark, as well.
As a team in 2022, the ‘Canes broke the school record for rushing yards in a game, as well as total yards in a game. They broke the total yards record twice in 2022.
Slover had a player named to the All-State team all four seasons he was at Morristown East.
East will begin their search for a new coach immediately.
“We appreciate all that he has done for us and are wishing him well in his next endeavor,” Hall said. “He will be missed. We will begin our search for a new coach as quick as we can.”
