Edith (Lynch) Roberts

Edith (Lynch) Roberts had a favorite Bible verse, “…to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord,” 2 Corinthians 5:8.

She was able to experience that verse on Sunday, February 12, 2023 as she was called to her Heavenly home.

Edith was born on November 3, 1941 and then raised in Hancock County. She met and married Deward “D.D.” Roberts in 1958 and they celebrated sixty-one years together prior to his passing in 2020. She accepted Jesus as her personal Savior and became a member of Barnard’s Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Bean Station. This was also the church she raised her family in and was active in Vacation Bible School for decades. Once she was unable to attend weekly services, she enjoyed being a part of the online services of White Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. From very humble beginnings, she worked alongside her husband as they built a successful business in residential and commercial construction which spanned eight states. She, along with her late husband, enjoyed traveling the world. She had great compassion for the sick, the poor, and especially for the elderly and was willing to help anyone in need. Edith loved being outdoors, fishing, gardening, and going to church.

Edith Roberts was preceded in death by her husband, Deward Dean “D.D” Roberts; parents, Willard and Kathleen (Jones) Lynch; infant brother, Lloyd Lynch; and her in-laws, Dave and Ina (Lawson) Roberts.

She is survived by her son, Sid (Kim) Roberts; daughters, Kathy (Danny) Lail and Alice (Mark) Rogers; she was blessed with five granddaughters, Cynthia (Seth) Ewing, Morgan (B.J.) West, Bailee (Nick) Northern, Mattie (Tyler) Starnes, and Kaitlyn Rogers and fiancée, Dawson Stanton; great-grandchildren, Jethro Ewing, Jypsea Ewing, Shade Ball, twins, Molly and Emmy West, Tenley Northern, Nataley Northern, Grayson Northern, and Asher Starnes; brother, Ted (Nancy) Lynch of Mooresburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Private services were held for the family and interment was in Bethesda Cemetery.

Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
