David Devotie

David Devotie, age 74, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Jefferson City Health and Rehab Center after a lengthy illness.

He was the son of the late G.W. and Ethel Payne Devotie and also preceded in death by his brother, James, Charlie, Paul, Floyd, and Ed Devotie; sisters, Gladys Gass, Lula Bell Love, Dollie Gass, Ruth Ball, Rosie Devotie, Dorothy Cox, and Ruby Shropshire; and infant, Bertie Aileen Devotie.

He is survived by his wife and caregiver of forty-nine years, Diane Devotie; daughter, Elaine Higdon; special grandchildren, Cody and Carianna Higdon; great-granddaughter, Kadence Higdon; brother, Rev. Joe Devotie of Jefferson City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

David attended the House of Prayer in Morristown before his health declined.

He loved his family and loved to read his Bible. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during Vietnam.

He worked as a machinest and manager at Five Rivers Hydraulics in New Market for thirty years.

The family would like to thank the VA in Morristown and Johnson City for their care the past sixteen years, Tennova Medical Center at Turkey Creek, and Jefferson City Health and Rehab.

The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, February 16th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Eddie Gray and Rev. Joe Devotie officiating.

Family and friends will meet at 3 p.m. Friday, February 17th at Hamblen Memory Gardens for graveside services.
