A body discovered in north Claiborne County Tuesday has been taken to Knoxville for an autopsy.

According to a report from the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office, detectives with the CCSO’s Criminal Investigations Division found a body in a mountainous area in northern Claiborne County. This discovery is the result of an active and ongoing investigation.

The body has been transported to the Knox County Regional Forensics Center in Knoxville where an autopsy will be performed and identification made. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the case.
