Lady ‘Canes go cold in loss to Farragut

Morristown East scored 12 points in the first quarter but managed just eight the rest of the way as Farragut took home a 59-20 victory Thursday evening.

The Lady ‘Canes had five players score with Finley Surber leading the way with six points. Hudson Cloninger had five points while Josie Helton added four, Hannah Hall three and Jaelyn Valentine two.

Maelyn McNealy led the way for Farragut with 15 points.

Things started well for Morristown East as they scored 12 points in the opening quarter and trailed just 18-12. Cloninger had five points in the quarter while Surber added four. Hall also hit a 3-pointer.

East managed just two points in the second quarter but held Farragut to seven points as they trailed 25-14 at the half. Surber scored the lone points for the Lady ‘Canes.

In the third, East once again managed just two points while Farragut added 11 and led 36-16. Valentine scored the only basket in the quarter for East.

The fourth quarter was more of the same as Helton scored all four of East’s points. Farragut scored 23 in the final eight minutes and cruised to the win.

Morristown East will be back in action at home on Friday night as they take on Cocke County. Tip is set for 6 p.m.
