RUTLEDGE – On a night when she was honored as an All-State volleyball player, Maddie Hurst showed why she is also really, really good in basketball as well.

Hurst scored 22 points to lead the Grainger Lady Grizzlies to a 62-53 win over Cosby Monday night at The Den. Adison Hayes scored 16 for Grainger. Cosby was paced by Shylee Shelton’s game-high 26 points.

On the boy’s side, Brizen Solomon netted 15 points to lead Grainger to a 62-52 victory. Drew Branson added 13 and Kade Williams had 10 points. Jayston Fine scored 21 for the Eagles with Slate Shropshire contributing 12 points.

Both teams return to conference action on Tuesday as Grainger wraps up league play with a game at Cherokee while Cosby makes a second trip to Grainger County in as many days as they travel to Washburn.
