Morristown Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Month
Jarelis Molina, Joseph Linholm, Shante Proffitt and John Lou have been recognized as Youths of the Month at the Boys & Girls Club of Morristown.
Sponsored annually by the Kiwanis Club of Morristown, the program recognizes members based on their attendance, participation, attitude, accomplishments, behavior, and sportsmanship.
Jarelis Molina, age 10, is the daughter of Jessica Molina. Jarelis has been a club member for 2 years. She is currently in the 4th grade at Lincoln Heights Elementary School. She has 2 sisters and 1 brother. Her favorite subject is Math. Jarelis enjoys riding her scootetr and spending time with family in her free time.
While at the club, she participates in many of the club’s programs, including Gamesroom, Gym, Park activities, Performing Arts, Swimming, Arts & Crafts, Library activities, Head of the Class, V.I.P’s, Jr. Leaders, Basketball Clinics, U.T. Football trip and a Lunch helper. Her favorite area of the Club is the Gym and favorite activity is Painting. When asked what the best thing that ever happened to her involving the Club, Jarelis stated, “being named Youth of the Month”.
When she grows up, Jarelis would like to be a Doctor. Adults who have helped or have been important in Jarelis’ life are her Mom, Teachers and the Boys & Girls Club staff. Jarelis enjoys the Club and was asked why she attends and she said “the Club is a place where I can go and hang out with my friends”.
Joseph Linholm, age 9, is the son of Jeanne Kamlos. He has 1 sister. Joseph has been a Club member for 1 year.
Joseph is in the 3rd grade at Lincoln Heights Elementary School. His favorite subject is Math. In his free time he enjoys playing games.
Joseph participates in many of the club’s programs including Gym, Games Room, Library, Head of the Class, Computers, V.I.P’s and Swimming. When asked about the best thing that has ever happened to you involving the Club, Joseph said, “going on a field trip to the Library”. His favorite area of the club is the games room and his favorite activity is Carpet Pool.
Joseph wants to be an Astronaut when he grows up. Some adults who are important to him are his Mom, Dad, Grandpa and Grandma. When asked why he comes to the Club, Joseph stated, “I come to the Club to see my friends and play games”.
Shante Profitt, age 16, is the daughter of Heather Keagley. She has been a club member for 9 years. She has 2 brothers. Shante is in the 11th grade at Morristown Hamblen West High School. Her favorite subject is English. In her free time she enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Shante participates in many of the club’s programs, including Head of the Class, Library activities, Gym, Arts & Crafts, Gamesroom, Performing Arts, Keystone Club, Torch Club, U.T. Football trip, Young Women of Distinction, Career Launch, TEEN Center, Steak and Burger Dinner, End of Summer Blast, Halloween Party, Christmas Luncheon and Jr. Staff. Her favorite area of the Club is the Library and favorite activity is playing Pool.
Shante would like to pursue a career in Social Work or be a Lawyer. Some adults who are important to Shante are her Mom, brothers Austin and Jordan along with the Boys & Girls Club staff. When asked why do you come to the Club, she stated “the Club is like family!”
John Lou, age 13, is the son of Tina and Nick Lou. He has been a Club member for 3 years. John has one sister. He is in the 7th grade a West View Middle School. His favorite subject is Science. In his free time he enjoys technology, reading and playing video games.
While at the Club, John participates in many of the Club programs such as Head of the Class, Gamesroom, Computers, Library activities, Inventers Club, UT Football game, Steak & Burger Dinner, End of the Summer Blast Super Auction and Christmas Luncheon. When asked what the best thing that has ever happened to him involving the Club he said, “attending the U.T. Football game”. John’s favorite area of the club is the Computer Lab and his favorite activity is playing Computer Games.
John’s future plans are to be a Computer Software Designer. Some adults who have been important in his life are his Mom & Dad along with the Boys & Girls Club staff. When asked why do you come to the Club he stated “the Club feels like home.”.
As a result of being named Youths of the Month, all selected members have qualified for Youth of the Year honors. The Boys & Girls Club of Morristown is a participating agency of the United Way of Hamblen County.
