As we come to the end of January this week, we hope that all Trojans are having a great start to the new year and will continue to strive for better and keep up the good work. Progress reports will go out this upcoming Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023. Below are some announcements and upcoming events.

West High’s Beta Club probation forms have been sent out. Beta Club students who have been placed on probation due to attendance or grades should follow the instructions specified on the letter. Failure to do so will result in membership being terminated. Beta Club’s next meeting will be Feb. 7, 2023 at 3:05 after school in the Library.

The Code Force and Robotics Club will meet everyday until Feb. 4, 2023.

Seniors, requests for transcripts and mid-year reports for colleges can be made through the google form provided. Submit the google form along with college name and number and the counseling office will send the transcripts. The google form can be found in your grade level google classroom or on Morristown-West’s website under counseling. Thank you.

Who’s Who forms are available in the Counseling Office for Seniors who are interested. Students will be selected from the forms turned in. The amount of students selected will not exceed 10% of the graduating class size. Students interested should turn their completed forms in to Mrs. Howerton in the Counseling Office by Friday, Feb. 3, 2023.

Trojans, join us for West High Cafe’s Valentines’ Day Sweets Fundraiser! We are selling a variety of sweets such as chocolate covered strawberries, strawberry cream puff pastries, and chocolate covered pretzels. Orders are open to be made by Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, and can be picked up on Feb. 13 or Feb. 14. Cash and checks are accepted. Orders are prepay only. Please contact Mrs. Dena Roach by phone, 423-585-3815, or by email, roachd5@hcboe.net, to place your order. In addition, Students and Teachers will be able to purchase during lunch times on Feb. 14.

Cinderella’s Closet is open by appointment only. If you need formal wear, dresses, shoes, makeup provided free of charge, call 865-287-5118 to schedule an appointment.

Soccer Tryouts will be Monday, Feb. 13, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Burke Toney Stadium. Be prepared to play; Shin guards are required.

For sports this week, Trojans’ Basketball will be playing a home game against Volunteer on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023. Basketball will also be playing on Friday, Feb. 3, 2023 in an away game against Sevier County. Come and support out Trojan Athletes!

The Don’t Drive Drowsy Scholarship is available for graduating high school seniors. The mission of the Don’t Drive Drowsy Foundation is to educate teens on the dangers of driving while sleep deprived and the benefits of a good night’s sleep every night. Applicants have the opportunity to receive $1000. The deadline to apply is March 6, 2023.
