Alan Ward Kinser

Alan Ward Kinser, age 74, of Morristown, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System.

Alan was born in Harlan, Kentucky. He was a beloved husband and father. He was a member of Alpha Baptist Church where he taught R.A.s for many years and also worked with the R.A.s at Talbott Baptist Church.

He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Forrestal. Alan taught second grade at Russellville and Alpha Primary, helping shape the lives of many students. He was loved by his co-workers, students, and parents. He also delivered the Citizen Tribune and Knoxville New Sentinel for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Geneva Kinser; step-mother, Betty Whitehead Kinser; and nephew, Eric Musick.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Brenda Kinser; children, Kara Genan Kinser (Adam Picklesimer) and Justin Alan Kinser; grandchildren, Savannah Rose Hensley, James Brendan Hensley (fiance’ Paige Ellis), and Connor Ramsey; sister, Carol (Claude) Musick; and brother, James (Janet) Kinser.

The family will receive friends from 4 – 7 p.m. Thursday, January 26th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Daniel Noe officiating.

Family and friends will meet at 1 p.m. Friday, January 27th at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for graveside services with Rev. Bob Cates officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Isaiah 117 House (423-518-3760).
