A man who remains at large and facing charges in a Knoxville murder has connections to an attempted Morristown home invasion more than a decade ago while his alleged accomplice in both crimes was taken into custody Monday.

Lawrence Stenson, 39, has an outstanding warrant for first-degree murder related to the shooting death of Frank Vinson in November of this year. Vinson was shot inside his Knoxville home. Police believe the shooting was part of an attempted robbery.

Stenson and another man accused in the crime, Dashawn Johnson, 29, were shot during the November incident and treated for non-life threatening wounds, according to published reports.

Johnson was taken into custody Monday, according to an update from the Knoxville Police Department. The third man charged in the shooting, Damante Golden, 29, was arrested Nov. 29 on an unrelated charge.

It is not the first time Stenson has been shot in the alleged commission of a crime nor the first time he and Johnson were connected to the same crime.

The duo was part of a four-person crew in May of 2010 who attempted to invade the home of a Morristown family. The homeowner – who was suspicious at the late night knock on the door – was armed. When members of the group tried to force their way in, he opened fire.

Holly Ann Repasky was killed in the attempt and Stenson was shot in the chest. Ricky Vega Bias, 30, was also shot during the attempt.

Johnson, who at the time was a 17-year-old who had runaway from the home as a foster child, was also arrested and convicted.

No one in the home was injured in the attempt.

Both Johnson and Stenson were reportedly released from prison in October.
