A chain reaction wreck during the lunch hour Monday resulted in only minor injuries.

According to a report from the Morristown Police Department, around 12:28 p.m., Monday, a 2010 Ford F-150 pickup truck, driven by Jason Eugene Stump, 42, and owned by Scott Murphy, both of Morristown, was traveling westbound on West Andrew Johnson Highway near the 2200 block when Stump said that cars in front of him were stopped before he could notice.

Stump‘s vehicle hit a 2013 Ford F-150 pickup truck, driven by Justin Manning, 39, of Morristown. Manning, who was stopped for a red light at Cold Creek Road in front of Bojangle’s and Food City Gas ‘N Go, then hit a 2017 Toyota 4Runner, driven by Jeanette Mullane, 38, of Morristown, in the rear, which was stopped at the same red light.

Another collision occurred in which the 4Runner struck a 2012 Toyota Sequoyah SUV, driven by Joshua Mathis, 36, of Morristown, in the rear.

An unidentified passenger in Mullane’s vehicle was trapped and was taken to Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System for treatment of minor injuries. Eight other passengers in the three vehicles were not hurt.

Traffic was snarled for around 47 minutes until the wreckage was cleared at 1:17 p.m., the report said.

Stump was charged with failure to exercise due care in the wreck.
