West Hamblen County home destroyed by fire

A home in West Hamblen County was destroyed by a fire on Wednesday evening.
One firefighter became overheated while working the structure fire, located at 1190 Hazelwood Circle, but after treatment and examination by EMS, it was determined no transport was needed. No other injuries were reported.
“The homeowners had left about a half hour before the fire,” West Hamblen County Volunteer Fire Department Chief Mark Hickman said. “Neighbor saw the smoke, went to investigate, and found the back of the house was on fire. We utilized a dump tank to shuttle water from nearby hydrants.” Dispatch to the fire happened at 4:48 p.m. and crews arrived to find the house on fire, “100% involved.” Several agencies responded to the scene, but the home was a total loss.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
West Hamblen Volunteer Fire Department had scene command, and had assistance from the East Hamblen, North Hamblen, South Hamblen and Kansas- Talbott volunteer fire departments, along with Morristown- Hamblen Emergency Medical Services, Hamblen County Emergency Management Agency and the Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office.
