One of Brody Carr’s ultimate goals since stepping on Jefferson County’s baseball field has been winning Mr. Baseball.

He just took his first step toward achieving that goal.

On Thursday, the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association named Carr a 2026 Mookie Betts Mr. Baseball Finalist in Class 4A.

Joining Carr as Class 4A finalists is Farragut’s Travis Brummit Jr. and Oak Ridge’s Mikee Teasley. Carr joins Tanner Franklin , who won the award in 2022, as the second Patriot this decade to be named a finalist.

Committed to Vanderbilt as a pitcher, Carr has hurled 56 innings in 2026, posting a 7-0 record with two saves, allowing just 31 hits and striking out 109 batters. Batters are hitting just .154 against him, and he has allowed just six earned runs all season for a .750 ERA.

Carr has been equally impressive at the plate, batting .419 with 37 hits, 30 RBIs, eight doubles, two triples and four home runs.

Carr hasn’t lost a game as the starting pitcher in two season, and he earned consensus All-State honors last year along with being named 2025 Citizen Tribune Lakeway Area Player of the Year.

As Carr awaits to see if he can fully achieve his goal of Mr. Baseball, he and the Patriots chase another goal of reaching the state tournament.

The Patriots have already captured the District 2-4A regular-season and tournament title with a 2511 record.

Jefferson County now looks to the next step, which is the Region 1-4A Tournament, where it hosts Dobyns-Bennett at 5:00 on Friday.
