James P. Parker

James P. Parker, age 90, of Morristown, passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Sunday, January 22, 2023.

As a young man, he spent five years in the armed forces, serving both state-side and in Germany. After an honorable discharge, his occupation was in furniture manufacturing, but he finished his career in gardening before retiring at the age of 85.

He had a lifelong devotion to music, where he became an accomplished guitar player, passing that love and talent onto his grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Inda Parker of Hawkins County; his beloved son, Mark Anthony “Tony” Parker; brother, Samuel Parker; and niece, Poppy Ann Long.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Judy Parker; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Scott Hall; grandchildren, Mitchell Gentry, Tyler Parker, and Daniel Hall; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Thomas Long; sister-in-law, Carolyn Parker; and several nieces.

The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 24th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 25th at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Bethesda Cemetery.
