Retiring MPD detective honored at City Council meeting

Det. Lt. Vicki Arnold was honored last night in City Council chamber in observance of her recent retirement from the Morristown Police Department.
Arnold began her career with the department as a patrol officer in 1988.
“She humbly and bravely served our community,” Chesney read from a Council proclamation that was presented to Arnold.
She served in a number of integral positions with the department, including Master Patrol Officer, School Resources Officer, Field Training Officer and D.A.R.E. officer. She was also a member of the MPD Honor Guard.
In 2002, Arnold was promoted to the department’s Detective unit, where she served as the Juvenile Services Officer and was a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children and Homicide units.
Following completion of the Police Academy at Walters State Community College, Arnold earned a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Tennessee and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice,
In 2016, Arnold received the distinct honor of graduating from the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
“Through evidence of her hard work and dedication, Det. Lt. Vicky Arnold worked her way up through the ranks as Corporal, Sergeant and finishing with the title of Detective Lieutenant,” Chesney said.
Arnold retired from MPD, effective Jan. 2, 2023.
“On behalf of the City Council of Morristown, Tennessee, I do hereby congratulate and commend Det. Lt. Vicky Arnold for 35 years of dedicated service to our wonderful community and wish her health, happiness and well-being for the future,” Chesney said.
MPD Chief Roger Overholt presented Arnold with her duty weapon.
“I’d like to thank you and commend you on your 35 years of service,” Overholt said.
