One dead in Cocke County crash

A 76-year-old man who was a passenger in a two-vehicle crash in Cocke County died when he was thrown through the roof of the vehicle Monday afternoon.

According to a preliminary report by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a Jeep Wrangler driven by Michael Kiser, 57, was traveling west on U.S. Highway 321. A Honda Civic, driven by Amy Marsh, 39, was traveling south on State Route 340 attempting to cross over U.S. Highway 321. The Civic failed to stop at the stop sign and its front end struck the right front of the Jeep, causing it to overturn and roll.

William Hogan, 76, a passenger in the Jeep Wrangler was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected through the Jeep’s roof. Hogan died from his injuries.

Both drivers were injured and the passenger in the Civic, Cheyanne Hutson, 20, was uninjured. Both drivers and Hutson were wearing their seat belts. Charges are pending.
