Lyons reminds public about TennCare renewal change

The State of Tennessee is requiring users of TennCare to self-renew for the year of 2023.
The past three years the state has automatically renewed users coverage due to the ongoing COVID 19 Pandemic.
However, this year the state will not renew and is requiring individuals to renew their own coverage.
Ashley Lyons, Hamblen County Health Department director, said it’s very important that people are aware of this change.
“It’s very important that people stay on top of it,” Lyons said. “It’s very easy to renew, but it’s very difficult to try and sign up after you lost your coverage.”
Lyons also wants to clarify that individuals do not have to go through the county’s health department to renew.
“People need to know that they will not renew with us, but they will go through the several outlets provided by the state.”
There are a total of five ways to renew TennCare health care coverage.
Individuals can visit the Department of Human Services on 2416 W Andrew Johnson Highway to drop off paper documents or use the kiosk to complete renewal online.
The highly recommended option is to complete renewal online or use the TennCare Connect app.
Using the app you must have an email address and upload a copy of paystubs and a copy of a driver’s license.
Calling the TennCare Connect hotline for free at 855-259-0701 is another way to renew coverage.
Mailing a complete and signed renewal packet to TennCare Connect P.O. Box 305240 Nashville, TN 37230-5240 or faxing the packet to 855-315-0669 are the last two ways to renew.
