$25K damage reported in Jaybird Road fire

A house on Jaybird Road Monday night sustained $25,000 in damages, but there was no one home at the time of the fire.
According to the Morristown Fire Department, the fire occurred in a house at 1007 Jaybird Road.
The MFD received the call at 10:59 p.m. with 16 firefighters, four engines, a truck and a command vehicle responding to the residence.
The fire was under control at 11:10 p.m. with the MFD staying on the scene for 1:18 hours.
MFD was credited with a timely response and quick extinguishment of the fire despite cramped conditions and a large amount of animals.
There was light to moderate smoke and light fire when the two adults and two children who live there arrived at the house and found it full of smoke.
The fire started in the bathroom area.
Due to the damages, the family was displaced and are staying with family members.
There was approximately $15,000 in damages to the house and $10,000 in damages to the contents.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
