Lady Patriots keep season alive with come-from-behind win over Science Hill

Jeff County seemed down-and-out at halftime of their Region 1-4A First Round matchup against Science Hill on Friday evening.
However, as it has gone the past couple of weeks for the Lady Patriots, you can never count them out.
Trailing by 11 at the half, the Lady Patriots exploded in the third quarter with 20 points to take a one-point lead. Jeff County held on for them, getting a 57-51 win to advance to the Region 1-4A Semifinals next week.
Madi Hawk led the way in the game for the Lady Patriots with 25 points. Hawk was 10-11 from the charity stripe.
Along with Hawk, Brooke Satterfield added 12 points while Makenzie Alvey had eight. Other scorers for the Lady Patriots were Maddie Richardson with four, Reagan Cotter with four, Kamry Bolin with two and Adalyn Arnstrom with two.
Things did not start off hot for Jeff County in the game as Science Hill led 16-10 after one. Cotter had four points in the quarter while Hawk drilled a three.
In the second, the Lady Patriots managed 11 points but gave up 16 more as they trailed 32-21 at the half. Hawk had six points in the second while Alvey had three.
The third quarter changed the game as the Lady Patriots scored 20 points and led 41-40 after holding Science Hill to eight points. Hawk was unstoppable with 10 points in the quarter while Richardson scored four and Satterfield hit a 3-pointer.
In the fourth, Satterfield came up huge with nine points. One of her two 3-pointers put the Lady Patriots back on top 44-42 after they went down by a point. The Lady Patriots never trailed from there as they held on for the win.
Jeff County will be back in action on Monday as they travel to Dobyns-Bennett to take on Sevier County in the Region 1-4A Semifinals. It will be a rematch of the District 1-4A Semfinals, a game in which Jeff County upset the Bearettes.
Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
