Harvey Drive fire results in $135K in damages, loss of pet

A house fire on Harvey Drive Monday night caused a total of $135,000 in damages and the loss of a family pet.

According to information from the Morristown Fire Department, the fire occurred at 180 Harvey Drive, Russellville, at a house owned by Tammy Keaton and rented by Phyllis Pollard, who was at home when the fire broke out. MFD received the alarm at 7:03 p.m. and arrived six minutes later. There were 16 firefighters, four engines, a platform truck and a battalion chief involved in extinguishing the fire.

As firefighters arrived, there was heavy smoke and fire coming from the basement with the fire starting to breach the first floor. The fire was put out in five minutes with MFD firefighters leaving the scene at 9:44 p.m.

According to Fire Chief Clark Taylor, there was approximately $100,000 in damage to the property and $35,000 in damage to the house’s contents.

There was heavy smoke damage throughout the house. Investigation of the fire is ongoing.
