Two women and a man died in a crash on Hooper Highway – U.S. 321 – near the intersection of Baxter Road Friday night.

According to a preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, at 5:50 p.m., Friday, a 2013 Nissan Altima, driven by Chad Pippen, age 48, was traveling north on U.S. Highway 321 when it entered the southbound lane of U.S. 321 hitting a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by 49-year-old Angela Barnes.

Both cars came to a rest on the roadway in the ditch.

Both drivers and a passenger in Barnes’ car, Ruby Shults, 77, died in the wreck. P

ippen was not wearing a seat belt while both Barnes and Shults were wearing their belts.

The wreck is still under investigation by the THP.
