WSCC to host Shamrock Shuffle

End your St. Patrick’s Day shenanigans on a high note with Walters State’s Shamrock Shuffle on March 18.

This 5K race begins at 8 a.m. on the Morristown Campus and circles College Square Mall.

“Many people wear green and incorporate the shamrock theme into their running or walking gear,” said Jonathan Nash, race coordinator and assistant director for alumni affairs and annual giving at the college. “This is a fun morning for everyone from walkers to serious runners.”

Early registration is $30 with a $5 discount for Walters State employees, students and alumni. Pre-registered runners will receive a 2023 Shamrock Shuffle 5K long-sleeve Dri-Fit shirt. Race day registration will be $40.

Packet pickup and same day registration will begin at 7 a.m. on race day. Runners and walkers can register at www.ws.edu/5k.

Walters State held its inaugural 5K in October, 2011. The event was moved to March and took on a St. Patrick’s Day theme in 2018, becoming the annual Shamrock Shuffle 5K. The course has stayed relatively the same, with low to moderate elevation while circling the college’s Morristown Campus and College Square Mall.

“The campus is beginning to show signs of spring and this 5K is a great opportunity to enjoy the scenery around campus, whether running for a new personal best time or casually walking with your friends,” Nash said. “We can’t wait to see everyone and continue what has become a new Walters State tradition.”

The race is certified by the USA Track and Field Association.
