Raymond D. Turner
Raymond D. Turner, age 74, of Morristown, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. Raymond was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was the first-born son of Curtis and Eileen Turner and brother to Curtis Turner, Jr., all of Morristown. Learning to play the guitar when he was twelve years old, he entertained folks with his guitar and bass and charismatic personality. Some of his favorite memories were those experienced while playing with Tyler Greene’s Orchestra, spending time with his loving family, and worshiping with his church family. He and his wife, Phyllis Jones Turner, shared fifty-two years of marriage together before her passing last year. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brother. He is survived by his daughter, Lesley (Jeff) Foster of Palatka, FL, son, Michael D. (Heather) Turner of Morristown, and his daughter, Amanda (Cody) Cornatzer of Morristown; he leaves behind eight grandchildren, Hannah (Bubba) Silcox, Benjamin (Carolyn) Foster, Jon-Michael (Mattie), Seth and Annie Turner, and Brayden, Bryson, and Abbie Cornatzer; Raymond had one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Foster. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System for their care and kindness. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 21st at Manley Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Buchanan and Rev. Alan Duncan presiding. Interment will be held at 2 p.m. at Hamblen Memory Gardens with Rev. Jeff Foster presiding.
