Elsie Myers Sparks, age 93, of Morristown (previously of La Follette), passed away peacefully at her home on February 22, 2023.

She was a faithful member of Cumberland View Baptist Church in Jacksboro, TN, and was under the watch care of First Baptist Church while in Morristown.

She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her, but we are comforted knowing that she is healed and at peace with her Lord. Elsie was an avid reader her entire life. In addition to reading, she loved Tennessee Vols Football, Basketball, and Lady Vol Basketball.

For as long as she was able, having a vegetable garden wasn’t work, but was a labor of love. Her faith and her family were the most important things in her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George P. Sparks; parents, H. M. and Kizzie Myers; half-siblings, Homer Turner, Edwin Turner, Mildred Williamson, and Estelle Turner.

She is survived by daughters, Patricia Parrott and Kathy (Dan) Hamilton; grandchildren, Beth (Christopher) Amos Wisecarver and Mark Hamilton, and great granddaughter, Emma Amos.The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 5th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. with the Reverend Dr. Dean Haun officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, March 6th at Sunrise Cemetery, LaFollette, TN. The family would like to thank Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice, Deborah Martin, and Nequa Harris for their care and compassion in her final months.
