Library offers series of events

The Morristown-Hamblen Library has a fun next few weeks planned for the community for all ages.

The fun begins on Tuesday, March 13, at 4 p.m. with its Pokemon Club. This is one of the library’s most successful events and is for ages 6 to 10.

The library encourages children to bring their best Pokemon cards to battle some of the best players around the area.

However, the day isn’t over, because at 4:30 p.m. the East Tennessee Cross Stichers will meet.

The meeting is for any cross stitchers in the East Tennessee area, who love to cross stitch. Everyone is welcome to join the conversation, show their latest finish and feed their addiction of all things stitchy.

Bright and early on Wednesday, March 15, the library will have its Storytime for ages 1 to 5 in the at 10:30 a.m. in Children’s Room.

On Thursday, March 16, the Adult Fun and Fit class will be held in the Library’s Community Room at 6 p.m.

This a beginner class and is welcome to all who are interested. The class starts with Zumba and incorpartes other works out through the night.

On March 21 the Lego Club will have its second monthly meeting in the community room at 4 p.m. This event is for ages 7 to 17.

The library asks that no one brings their personal legos as they may get mixed up, the library will provide all legos for the event.

At the end of the night all lego creations will be displayed in the teen room for community members to see.

On March 27 the library will have its newest program, Little Artists. This program gives toddlers, ages 1-5, the chance to participate in hands on arts and crafts activities.

This allows them to be creative with different art techniques such as painting, creating mosaic art, drawing and much more.

The program will be held in the community room at 10 a.m.

On March 28 the library will have two fun events. The day will begin with Family STEAM night in thew community room at 4 p.m. and is for ages 7-17. Following will be Crafts with the Staff. This months project will be necklace making and with only 12 spots available the library encourages interested particpants to sign up quickly.

All of these events require a sign up and can be made at the circulation desk or by calling 423-586-6410.

However, the fun doesn’t end there, the library has several services that can be used all day and everyday.

The Makerspace is filled with fun tools and machines to help creative continue to create their masterpieces.

It is located in the Teen Room on the main floor and it includes a Glowforge Plus, Cricut, sewing machines, photo/video editing software, a 3-D printer, and a variety of games.

There are 12 public-access desktop computers placed throughout the main floor of the library. Users must sign in to use the computer using their library card and password. Guests in the area can use a temporary internet pass issued at the circulation desk.
