We hope that everyone is adjusting to the time difference from daylight savings. Thank you to all that donated to our Spring Blood Drive. In addition, we hope that all incoming Freshmen from West View Middle had fun at the orientation and have successfully registered for their classes for next school year. We look forward to welcoming Lincoln Middle students this Monday, Mar. 20, after school.
Juniors will be taking their ACT this Tuesday, Mar. 21; the ACT is a graduation requirement for all students in Tennessee to graduate with a diploma. Freshmen and Sophomores will take the practice ACT while Seniors will complete community service hours for TN Promise. After testing, students and staff will participate in breakout games of fun activities to end the school day.
The CDC department at West is selling Krispy Kreme donut certificates for $13.00 per dozen. Orders can be placed through Tuesday, Mar. 21. All proceeds will go towards the funding for Morristown-West’s CDC class’ end-of-year field trip. Any contributions or donations are greatly appreciated. If anyone is interested in purchasing a certificate, please contact Dr. Kultinis, Mrs. Evans, or Mrs. Webb. Thank you for your support in providing unique opportunities for our students.
Seniors, Jostens’ will be here this Wednesday, Mar. 22, to distribute graduation supplies in the cafeteria during all lunches. Please be sure to stop by and pick up your orders. Cap and Gown photos for Seniors will be taken on Tuesday, Apr. 11, in the auditorium from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you intend on taking the Cap and Gown portraits, please fill out the Google form in your Google Classroom. If you have paid the sitting fee for the Senior portraits in the Fall, you will not need to pay a sitting fee for the Cap and Gown photos.In addition, Senior Beta Club members will be able to purchase their graduation cords through Mrs. Owens. The only approved cord will be the black and gold color combination which is $15. Please make checks payable to “West High Beta Club”. To ensure that everyone will receive their cords in time for graduation, please pay the total amount by Apr. 4, 2023. Beta Club’s next meeting will also be on Apr. 4, 2023.

This week will be a busy week for sports. On Monday, Mar. 20, and Tuesday, Mar. 21, Trojans’ Varsity Baseball will be playing against Sevier County. Monday will be an away game and Tuesday will be a home game. Softball will be playing against Sevierville on Tuesday, Mar. 21. They will also be playing against Morristown-East on Thursday, Mar. 23. Tennis will also be playing on Thursday, Mar. 23, against Seymour. In addition, there will be a track meet on Friday, Mar. 24, and Saturday, Mar. 25, in Knoxville.
Student Council will host auditions for the “Trojans’ Got Talent” talent show on Thursday, Apr. 6, 2023, after school. We would love to have a variety of talents: singers, bands, musicians, magicians, dancers, comedians, etc. All are welcome to audition! The talent show will take place in the auditorium on Friday, Apr. 21, 2023, during third period. Cash prizes will be awarded. A google form will be posted to sign up for auditions in the following week.
Upcoming scholarships: The Yamaoka Tuff-Torq Scholarship is a scholarship that is awarded to recognize students for their achievement in the areas of math and science. Priority will be given to the students who are the children/legal dependents of Tuff-Torq employees. Applications are available in the counseling office; the deadline is Mar. 29, 2023.
The ETR Automotive Tech Scholarship is for Seniors who are obtaining a degree or certification in automotive technology and/or restoration; students who show an active interest in the hobby of antique vehicles may apply. Applications are available in the Counseling Office Google Classroom along with more information. The deadline is Mar. 31, 2023.
The “Life. Made Better.” Scholarship: Students must be involved in at least two extracurricular activities and have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. Letters of recommendation and essays will be required. The deadline for the scholarship will be Mar. 31, 2023.
In honor of Mr. Brian Marcum, there will be a scholarship available for Seniors who are planning to major in education; applications are available in the counseling office and the deadline will be Apr. 21, 2023.
