The body of a 26-year-old homeless man was found in a wooded area behind Faith Temple Baptist Church on North Henry Street Monday afternoon.

The man, William Burnett, had been seen walking in the area earlier in the morning.

At about 3:50 in the afternoon, an unidentified female companion flagged a passerby down and asked them to call 911 because she believed her friend had died.

When medical services arrived, they confirmed that Burnett had passed.

The cause of death has not been determined.

The body was sent to Knoxville where an autopsy will be performed.
