Massengill Springs Food City opens Starbucks cafe

Morristown residents now have another option to choose from when they go to get their caffeine fix.

The Massengill Springs Food City on Sandstone Drive celebrated the grand opening of their Starbucks cafe Monday morning.

This occasion was marked by an extra special milestone with it being their 50th Food City location since 2017.

As individuals gathered to celebrate the ribbon cutting ceremony Mayor Bill Brittain praised the location for their part in expanding the community and providing jobs.

“Morristown Hamblen county are a great place to live, work and raise a family and we just want to thank food City for being such a great part of that,” Brittain said. The Starbucks café has provided 14 job opportunities in Morristown. City Council member Kay Senter also spoke briefly.

Senter was sentimental as she recognized many of her former students who started their first jobs at Food City and are now a part of this new area of growth.

Food City President/CEO Steve Smith was also in attendance and Starbucks presented Smith with a commemorative plaque congratulating and thanking him for the opening of their 50th in-store location.

Smith thanked Starbucks for their continued support in growing their business and then he went on to praised Food City store manager Amanda Gulley for her achievement of being named Progressive Grocer’s top women in the industry Nationwide.

This Starbucks location will serve their full drink menu and breakfast food items as well as their pre-packaged snack options. Hours for this location will be 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
