West baseball holds off Northview Academy

Morristown West held off a late Northview Academy rally on Thursday night to secure the one-run victory, 11-10.
Northview started the scoring in the first to make it 1-0, but West scored three in the second to take a two-run lead. Those runs came as Charlie Dewald had a two-RBI single and Bryson Shepard drove in a run with a single.
In the third, two more runs scored as West made it 5-1. Riley Short had an RBI groundout in the inning while Landyn Spencer scored on the base path for the second run.
West continued to add to their lead in the fourth as Jordan Watson had an RBI triple and Bryson Jenkins hit an RBI single. Northview scored two in the bottom of the fourth, but West answered with two in the fifth as Cody Blair had an RBI single and Paxton Seal walked with the bases loaded.
Following an RBI single from Watson in the sixth that made it 10-3, Short gave the Trojans their final run in the seventh with an RBI single.
Northview scored seven in the seventh, but the Trojans got the final out to hold on for the win.
West will be back in action on Friday, taking on Elizabethton at 6 p.m.
TKA 15, Morristown East 2
Morristown East scored two runs in the first but could not muster anything else, falling to the Lions.
The two runs came on a two-RBI double by Eli Seals.
East will be back in action on Friday at 6 p.m., hosting TKA.
