Grainger baseball falls to Greeneville

RUTLEDGE – Greeneville pitcher Parker Shipley had Grainger’s number as he struck out 11 Grizzly batters in the Greene Devils’ 10-7 win on Tuesday afternoon.

Shipley allowed four hits and one walk as he picked up the win. At the plate, Eli House provided the fireworks as he had a two-run homer and drove in three runs on the day. Kade Lucas and Brayden Christian each hit triples for the Grizzlies and Braylnn Sell added a double.

After the Greene Devils jumped on top in the second inning, Grainger responded with three runs of their own to take the lead in the home half of the third. Christian’s triple to center scored Ryland Burchett and an error by Greeneville brought Christian home. Sell’s double to right scored Brady Smith to make it 3-2. House gave Greeneville the lead for good on a two-run blast in the fourth. The Greene Devils added four runs in the fifth inning and chipped in two more in the sixth before the Grizzlies made things interesting in the final frame. Landon Dalton drew a bases-loaded walk to get the RBI and then Jaxon Mazey was hit by a pitch to produce another run. Nolan Wallace also drew the base on balls that scored Smith and Bryson Davis single do a line drive to left as Dalton came home to produce the 10-7 final.

The Grizzlies host Claiborne on Thursday.
