Lady Trojans win thriller over Greeneville

Morristown West hit three home runs, and Kaylee Dyke threw the tying run out at the plate on Monday evening as the Lady Trojans held on for a 7-6 win over Greeneville.
The Lady Trojans were up 7-3 heading to the seventh but gave up three runs to make it a one-run game. However, on the RBI single that cut the lead to one, Greeneville tried to tie the game. Dyke fielded the ball in the outfield and gunned the ball home for the final out of the game.
At the plate, Hailey Milton and Briony Bunsic smacked solo homers while Aubrie Messer had the biggest hit of the night, a grand slam in the top of the fifth.
Things started well for West as Milton hit her solo shot in the second to make it 1-0. In the third, it was Bunsic’s turn to hit her solo homer that made it 2-0.
Greeneville got a run in the bottom of the third to cut the lead in half, but West answered with another run in the fourth. Mikaela Olodey doubled to start the inning, with a Messer single moving her to third. Olodey came home to score as Dyke lifted a sacrifice fly to center.
In the fifth, West blew the game open as Bunsic walked, Jaelyn McDaniel reached on an error and Olodey walked to load the bases. That brought up Messer who launched a ball over the fence in left-center to give West a 7-1 lead.
Greeneville tried to answer with two runs in the bottom of the fifth and three in the seventh, but the Lady Trojans held on for the win.
West will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to face Morristown East at 5 p.m.
