Three members of a Mooresburg family died Friday when fire broke out in their home in the Chelaque Estates gated community located along Cherokee Lake.

Around 7:05 a.m. Friday, Hawkins County Dispatchers received a call of a structure fire at the 300 block of Chelaque Way in Mooresburg.

Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement arrived on scene where the home was completely involved.

In addition to the Lakeview Volunteer Fire Department, units from Bean Station, Striggersville, Bulls Gap, Treadway, Stanley Valley, and Persia Fire Departments also responded.

According to investigators, there were two adults unaccounted for who were possibly trapped inside the residence.

Further investigation confirmed the deaths of Darrell Banks, 57, his wife Sandra Banks, 54, and an unidentified juvenile boy.

One of the victims had been airlifted from the scene with severe burns and the bodies of the other victims were found inside the home.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
