Harold Kenneth Lingerfelt

Harold Kenneth Lingerfelt, known as “Ken” to family and friends, passed away on April 23, at Jefferson Park of Dandridge.

Ken was born on March 5th, 1933, in Asheville, North Carolina to William and Margaret Lingerfelt and moved to Morristown, Tennessee during his high school years.

After attending East Tennessee State for one year, he enlisted in the United States Army.

After his service in the military, he finished his college career at Clemson University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Textile Engineering.

Ken was employed for his entire career by the American Enka Company (later BASF,) working at both the Enka, North Carolina and Lowland, Tennessee plants. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Morristown.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Peggy Kenley Lingerfelt; his brother Paul Lingerfelt; and his brother, Carroll Lingerfelt. Ken is survived by his daughter Laura Ritter (Greg); his grandson Cameron Ritter (Madelyn); his sister Rebecca Taulbee; his wonderful companion Jean Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to say a special thank you to Ken’s wonderful friend, Dr. Kenneth Allum, who helped out in so many ways during the last two years of Ken’s life. A graveside service will be held at 1PM Friday, April 28, 2023 at Jarnagin Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or to the Peggy Lingerfelt Music Scholarship Fund through the Walters State Community College Foundation.
