Drive by shooting under investigation

Hamblen County Sheriff Chad Mullins said a drive-by shooting Monday afternoon on Macedonia Road was not likely an incidence of road rage.

Mullins said the victims – who were still being interviewed Monday evening – were likely specifically targeted and it’s not the first time they’ve been involved in a similar incident.

The two victims were in their vehicle on Cherokee Drive when they noticed they were being followed by two masked people in a black car.

The victims pulled on to Macedonia Road when the passenger leaned out the window and shot at the car, hitting it twice.

Mullins said it was not clear if any other shots were fired. No one was injured in the shooting.

Mullins indicated that this is not the first time the victims have been involved in a similar incident. He said there was a similar attempted shooting about a month ago as well as other incidents in the past.

The victims did not give authorities much information on the shooter or the driver, saying both were wearing masks.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
