Scott David Zimmerman
Scott David Zimmerman, of Talbott, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.
Scott was born June 23, 1962, the first son of Samuel “Steve” Zimmerman of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and the late Janis Smith Zimmerman of Talbott, Tennessee. After an idyllic childhood in central Florida, Scott graduated from Lake Brantley High School in 1981.
He received a degree in Engineering from East Tennessee State University and was a luxury home builder in East Tennessee for the last 20 years.
He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and his fly-fishing skills were legendary. A talented musician, he began singing and playing guitar at an early age and honed his skills from garage bands to professional gigs throughout his life.
His music was a source of joy and pride to family and friends and sing-a-longs were a highlight of family gatherings.
Scott spent the last 22 years of his life in Eastern Tennessee with his wife Mary, the love of his life and best friend. He was preceded in death by his mother, Janis.
He leaves behind his wife, Mary; father, Steve Zimmerman; daughters, Brandi Rain Zimmerman, Ashley Zimmerman, and Chelsey Skipworth; son, Christopher (Brandi) Skipworth; and grandchildren, Jillian Zimmerman, Isaac Zimmerman, Aerie Skipworth, and Greyson Skipworth; he was a beloved big brother to Bradley (Denise) Zimmerman of Apopka, Florida and Sharon (Doug) Hall, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and a cherished uncle to Amanda (Ryan) Alligood, Caroline Hall, Sam Hall, and Stephen Zimmerman. His loving and generous spirit touched many lives. He was fiercely protective and forever loyal and generous with his love and his time. He will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Trevor Roberts and Rev. Bryce Justice officiating.
