NSDAR State Conference held in Franklin

Regent Kathy Ward-Mouser, Registrar Barbara Baker, and first-time attendee Charlotte McEntire attended the 118th Tennessee Society Daughters of the American Revolution’s State Conference in Franklin, the weekend of April 20-23.
Two speakers highlighted the dinner meetings.
Astronaut Captain Wendy Lawrence, US Navy, Retired, spoke about her career. She is the daughter of Admiral William Lawrence, who wrote the poem, “Oh Tennessee, My Tennessee,” while a prisoner in Vietnam for 6 years. Copies of this poem are being distributed to Tennessee schools.
Artist David Wright, who has painted the picture that will be on the cover of TSDAR’s Patriot Book, entertained the audience with pictures and anecdotes about his career as an artist for 60 years.
Wright researches his historical paintings in order to create an accurate background for his paintings and the correct dated accessories in the paintings.
